Organize your application file

Prepare your passport, the background and employment information requested in your account, police certificates when required, and medical evidence where applicable. Follow country-specific certificate instructions. If evidence is delayed, use IRCC’s stated procedure rather than omitting it without explanation.

Childcare requires particular attention

An open permit can still contain medical restrictions. If you intend to work with children, read the immigration medical instructions early and arrange a panel-physician exam when required. A general health check is not a substitute for the immigration process.

Already approved, but not yet travelled?

IRCC explains how to provide upfront medical evidence at the border before the permit is issued. Follow the specific instructions for your stage and keep supporting proof available.

Already in Canada with a restriction?

Follow the procedure to change the permit conditions. Completing an exam alone does not remove the printed condition. Do not begin restricted childcare work while waiting for the required change.

Keep screening separate

Immigration medical evidence and police documents are not a complete childcare suitability assessment. Families should still review references, relevant experience and job-appropriate screening with consent. Share sensitive records only through an agreed, secure process.
