How to Apply for IEC Working Holiday in Canada
Follow the IEC application steps, from a profile and invitation to documents, fees and arrival preparation, with official IRCC guidance.
1. Confirm the right category
Check your citizenship and individual conditions on IRCC. Working Holiday is the category to investigate for an open permit; other IEC categories carry distinct employment or study requirements.

2. Create and submit your profile
Complete the eligibility questions and submit your IEC profile to an eligible pool. Save access to your account and watch for messages. Pool entry is not a work-permit application or a guarantee of selection.

3. Respond to an invitation
If invited, follow the deadline in your account. IRCC gives 10 days to decide whether to accept. Prepare documents early so the next stage does not begin with a last-minute scramble.

4. Submit the work-permit application
After accepting, you have 20 days to submit. The deadline uses UTC. Complete the forms, upload the personalized checklist, pay the required fees and follow biometrics instructions when applicable.

5. Follow messages and the decision
Respond to any additional request through the official account. If approved, read the port-of-entry letter and travel instructions carefully. Do not book a non-refundable family start date around an assumed processing time.
6. Prepare travel and inspect the permit
Bring the required arrival evidence. Review the issued permit before leaving the border, particularly expiry and any medical restrictions.
