IEC Working Holiday Canada for European Citizens

Check which European citizenships have access to IEC Working Holiday and why EU residence alone does not establish eligibility.

European Union countries with Working Holiday

IRCC lists Working Holiday for these EU citizenships: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. Review the individual country conditions before applying. EU residence alone does not establish eligibility.

Europe extends beyond the EU

Andorra, Iceland, Norway, San Marino and the United Kingdom also appear with Working Holiday. Switzerland appears under Young Professionals and International Co-op, but not Working Holiday. Those categories have different requirements and should not be presented as an automatic alternative for au pair jobs.

What every candidate should check

If your citizenship is not listed

Do not assume that living, studying or holding a residence permit in an EU country qualifies you. Check IRCC’s recognized-organization information and any other work-permit route that may fit your circumstances. No alternative is automatic.
